Jamie stood staring at the bathroom door with her arms wrapped around her waist. She’d just allowed Death to make love to her. Of course he wouldn’t think of it that way. No, to him she was just another woman he’d fucked. Jamie grimaced because to her what had happened in that bed was so much more. She looked at the tousled sheets feeling different somehow, like her whole world had changed in the past hour.

They’d had sex and she couldn’t take that back no matter how she tried. She felt another blush stain her cheeks as she looked in the dresser mirror seeing her hair was wild and she had whisker burn along her neck and chest. Grabbing a brush, she set to work getting the tangles from her hair because there was no way in hell she was joining him in the shower.

Jamie felt her chest freeze when she realized something else that she hadn’t thought about. Holy hell, they’d just had unprotected sex and she wasn’t on anything. Diseases weren’t something she had to worry about because there was a shot to get rid of those but pregnancy, that could be an issue. Fuck, what had she been thinking? What would she do if she did get pregnant? No, no, no, she wouldn’t borrow trouble. From now on she’d make sure they used something and the likelihood that she would get pregnant from one time was slim. She was in a good place in her cycle having just come off her period a few days ago so it should be fine.

Jamie again cursed her messed up biology that prevented her from getting the much easier shots for birth control. The one time she’d gotten the shot it had almost killed her and the doctor had told her brother she was in the two percent of the population that was allergic to the shots and to never allow her to take them again.

She could hear the shower running and realized that Death was in there all slick and naked. A rush of desire roared through her and she imagined crawling in behind him and licking the water from his skin as she ran her hands over his hard body. She shook off the thoughts, trying to get her raging libido under control.

She went back to taming her hair and five minutes later when someone knocked at her door she finally had all the tangles managed. She stepped toward the door expecting to find Lissa there but instead pulled it open to find her brother with a grim look on his face.

“Stay in your room and don’t come out. Death’s escaped and he tied up Bam and Rook before he did so last night. I don’t know what he’s up to but when I rolled in an hour ago we began looking for him but still haven’t found him. I don’t want him hurting anyone to escape if he’s not already gone,” Evert muttered, looking grave.

Jamie felt another blush stain her cheeks as she glanced towards the bathroom door.
